Hooke Court Residential

Hooke Court Residential

The Year 4s at Mrs Ethelston’s and St Andrew’s Schools spent three wonderful days at Hooke Court (www.hookecourt.co.uk). We followed a busy and inspirational programme led by professional outdoor pursuit leaders.  The main focus for the three days was on teambuilding and outdoor survival skills. Having arrived by coach on Wednesday, we were faced with our first challenge: putting on our own duvet covers!  The afternoon was spent with team building activities leading to ‘Bridging the Moat’ where the children winched a heavy parcel across the moat.

We spent all day in the woods on Thursday, building our tribal kingdoms. The children were split into two groups; each group built a den big enough to house everybody, they voted for their chief, agreed on a tribal name and found a suitable tribal cry. In the afternoon we enjoyed games and songs by the campfire and had a fantastic time together.  Read & See More »

Celebration Service with the Bishop

A Celebration Service led by the Rt Rev'd Nicholas McKinnel, Bishop of Crediton, was held at St. Andrew's Church to mark the 150th anniversary of the church and the 175th anniversary of the school.  A choir made up of children from the school sang harvest songs to a packed congregation of parents, friends and people who had been associated with both the church and school in the past.

Fencing and Archery at Chardstock this summer

The Go Active Holiday Club has started at St Andrew's Primary School, Chardstock. Oliver Twist

St. Andrew's Primary was transformed into Victorian London when a theatre company visited the school.  M&M Theatrical Productions presented Oliver Twist to children from the school who were also joined by children from Mrs Ethelston's Primary Uplyme.  The children were enthralled as the story unfolded and enjoyed the familiar songs.  Click the heading to see more photographs.
