Welcome to the Early Years Centre

Welcome to the Early Years Centre

Welcome to St Andrew’s Early Years Centre.  We provide high quality learning experiences for our youngest children, from age 2, in purpose built accommodation as part of the Primary School. The team is led by an Early Years teacher, supported by other highly qualified staff. We have excellent facilities both inside and out, to enable to children to flourish in a caring and supportive environment where each child’s needs are developed.

The Early Years Centre is able to access all of the facilities and be managed by the school to ensure a smooth and continous transition into school life.

We currently have vacancies for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Funding is available for 15 hours a week for all 3 and 4 year olds (starting the term after your child's 3rd birthday). Some funding is available for 2 year olds who meet certain criteria. Please contact the office for more information.

Due to high demand, we strongly advise that parents visit the Early Years Centre and register before their child turns two. This will help to ensure that we can offer your child the sessions you would prefer by allowing us to plan ahead for the statutory staffing requirements.

Please come and have a look at our fantastic facilities to see for yourself!  Click here to arrange a visit or ring 01460 220534. For a copy of our prospectus please click on the information section.

Pre-School Traffic watch

Pre-School Traffic watch
The pre-school children went on a walk into the village looking at the traffic they could see. We were looking at ways in which we could represent number by making lines on paper in the form of a tally chart. We were surprised by the amount of vehicles that we saw in transit on our walk down to the church and back. We recorded our results on our tally charts. We spotted lots of cars, Olivia counted over twenty marks on her tally chart for cars! We even spotted a tractor, lots of vans and a lorry. We all enjoyed the walk and spoke about road safety.

Pre-School Shape Walk

Pre-School Shape Walk

Yesterday morning we went on a shape walk around the school outdoor ara we looked high and low looking for 2D and 3D shapes. We spotted lots of squares, rectangles, circles, triangles, a hexagon and cylinders. We recorded our findings on a tally chart. We are looking forward to looking for more shapes in the village on our walk next week.

Go Active fun in Pre-School

Go Active fun in Pre-School

This morning the pre-school children had a trial session with Go Active.

The children had such great fun with Mr Smith and his pe session. The children demonstrated moving freely and with pleasure in a variety of ways, moving as different animals. As well as developing their physical skills they used their colour recognition and number knowledge. We are pleased that Go Active will be doing a pe session with us every Monday through the summer term. Please click on heading to see more photos.
