Welcome to the Early Years Centre

Welcome to the Early Years Centre

Welcome to St Andrew’s Early Years Centre.  We provide high quality learning experiences for our youngest children, from age 2, in purpose built accommodation as part of the Primary School. The team is led by an Early Years teacher, supported by other highly qualified staff. We have excellent facilities both inside and out, to enable to children to flourish in a caring and supportive environment where each child’s needs are developed.

The Early Years Centre is able to access all of the facilities and be managed by the school to ensure a smooth and continous transition into school life.

We currently have vacancies for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Funding is available for 15 hours a week for all 3 and 4 year olds (starting the term after your child's 3rd birthday). Some funding is available for 2 year olds who meet certain criteria. Please contact the office for more information.

Due to high demand, we strongly advise that parents visit the Early Years Centre and register before their child turns two. This will help to ensure that we can offer your child the sessions you would prefer by allowing us to plan ahead for the statutory staffing requirements.

Please come and have a look at our fantastic facilities to see for yourself!  Click here to arrange a visit or ring 01460 220534. For a copy of our prospectus please click on the information section.

Millers Farm Shop Visit

Millers Farm Shop Visit

Pre-school had a fantastic trip to Millers Farm Shop. After much excitement of arriving by coach we were kindly welcomed by James and Olivia Miller. The children listened to a talk about fruit and vegetables finding out the difference between the two and where they come from before having a taste testing session. The children then explored the shop looking for their favourite items and even found some gingerbread men hiding too! We were able to take a look at the flowers outside smelling them and looking at all the different colours we could see. We then were lucky to be able to watch some fresh fish being prepared, which many of the children loved.

We had a fabulous time and are very grateful of the gifts we were given. We have had a busy week planting the flowers and making gingerbread men. We would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone at Millers Farm Shop.

Chick, Chick, Chick, Chicken…

Chick, Chick, Chick, Chicken…

Jenson’s Mummy very kindly brought in six little chicks for us to see. We patiently waited until the afternoon to see them and we were very excited about their arrival. We were able to hear the noises they make and feel how soft their feathers are. The children were very inquisitive and asked lots of important questions about the chicks. We are now even more excited about hatching our own chicks at school!

Planting our seeds and Curly the caterpillar!

Planting our seeds and Curly the caterpillar!

We have been busy planting our cress and sunflower seeds, the children have been taking good care of them making sure that they have enough water and sunlight to grow.

We have also planted grass seed and created our first pre-school pet Curly the caterpillar! We are patiently waiting for the grass to grow long enough for us to be able to give Curly a haircut! Click on heading to see more pictures.

Spring Walk and Garden of Gethsemane

Spring Walk and Garden of Gethsemane

The whole school made flowers to decorate the garden of Gethsemane in the Lady Chapel in St. Andrew's Church, for Easter. Pre-School visited the church on their Spring walk and popped in to see their flowers they had made. They also wrote a few prayers for the prayer tree. Please feel free to pop in to the church and see the display.

Sports Relief

Sports Relief

Pre-school ran a whole 10 miles for sport relief!!  We had great fun joining in with the running challenge with Maple and Hazel class and we still had enough energy left to shimmy with Timmy and friends for our afternoon danceathon.
