Welcome to the Early Years Centre

Welcome to the Early Years Centre

Welcome to St Andrew’s Early Years Centre.  We provide high quality learning experiences for our youngest children, from age 2, in purpose built accommodation as part of the Primary School. The team is led by an Early Years teacher, supported by other highly qualified staff. We have excellent facilities both inside and out, to enable to children to flourish in a caring and supportive environment where each child’s needs are developed.

The Early Years Centre is able to access all of the facilities and be managed by the school to ensure a smooth and continous transition into school life.

We currently have vacancies for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Funding is available for 15 hours a week for all 3 and 4 year olds (starting the term after your child's 3rd birthday). Some funding is available for 2 year olds who meet certain criteria. Please contact the office for more information.

Due to high demand, we strongly advise that parents visit the Early Years Centre and register before their child turns two. This will help to ensure that we can offer your child the sessions you would prefer by allowing us to plan ahead for the statutory staffing requirements.

Please come and have a look at our fantastic facilities to see for yourself!  Click here to arrange a visit or ring 01460 220534. For a copy of our prospectus please click on the information section.

Rhyming Wellie Walk

Rhyming Wellie Walk

We love to be outside oh yes we do! Wrapped up with wellies, coats, hats, scarves and gloves off for a walk around the village we went. It was decided that we would trial our rhyming skills on this walk. We listened carefully to the clues and used our beady eyes to spot peculiar items that had been hidden around the village.

Click on the photos to see what we found and where we found them.

Flamingo Pool - People's Millions Vote

Flamingo Pool - People's Millions Vote

Thank you from the Flamingo Pool in Axminster to all our parents and staff who voted in the People's Millions TV show . All our schools use the Flamingo Pool for swimming lessons, and many parents and children use the pool regularly, so we are delighted that they have received a cheque for £50,000 to purchase an Aqua Gym for use by the whole community.

Autumn Week in Pre-School

Autumn Week in Pre-School

We have been out rambling in the farmers field exploring the changes in the environment along with a spot of blackberry picking. Our intentions were to bake with the blackberries on our return to pre-school however, it turned out they were too scrumptious to save and we ended up bringing very few back with us so opted for cooking vegetable soup instead!

After a busy morning of peeling, chopping and blending onions, carrots, potatoes, butter nut squash and pumpkin it was only fair that we got to take a little break to taste the produce of all our hard work. For many the soup didn't touch the sides and one or two enjoyed second helpings!

One bowl of soup and we have ended up having a soup frenzy outside in the water tray. The children have been mixing, mashing, blending, boiling and stirring up all sorts of soup concoctions from blueberry and apple, strawberry jam, orange and carrot to chicken and mash! We have throughly enjoyed sampling them all, sharing recipes and even whispering our secret ingredients to one another!

Amongst all our soup making we still managed to squeeze in a spot of dancing. Read & See More »

Shapes, Shapes and More Shapes!

Shapes, Shapes and More Shapes!

We have been busy learning about shapes through lots of different activities in pre-school, around school, out in the village and during snack time!

We all were busy in our snack room making ourselves some scrummy sandwiches. We had circle plates, square ham, rectangle bread and triangle cheese. Best of all we got to have fun shaping our sandwiches into different shapes. Some used knifes to cut theirs into triangles, others used hands to fold them into squares and rectangles and some used teeth to bite theirs into many different shapes! Everyone was in agreement that each and every shape sandwich was delicious!
