To kick off 2018 the children joined members of the local Community Speed Watch Campaign in monitoring the speed of traffic passing the school. All of the children were involved and they were disappointed to find that 37% of cars passing were exceeding the speed limit, with one vehicle recorded at 48 mph. The children have explored this data in their maths lessons, and presented it various ways. In Literacy they have composed letters to their local MP and councillors expressing their concern at the issue, with some of the children suggesting that all schools should have a 20mph speed limit in order to help safeguard children. Great work everyone and a big thank you to the speed watch volunteers for coming along to work with the children!
