Welcome! At Marshwood Primary School we are committed to helping our children be happy, successful and supportive of one another. We have a fantastic staff, small class sizes and have been described as 'one big happy family'. If you would like to visit our school or would like more information, please contact us.

Founded in 1842 Marshwod is one of Dorset's longest established Primary schools.

It has always worked closely with the local church, frequently using the neighbouring building for functions. The children often visit other churches within the catchment area to perform and take part in services.

In addition to fulfilling their vital role in developing the excellent academic achievements, the Governors actively promote an ethos which produces an atmosphere of family togetherness, friendship, energy, fun and positive self-discipline based on christian values.

Marshwood Parents and Friends Association is a lively group who organise a wide range of fund raising and social events. These benefit the school not only by providing special items, such as our Millennium activity area, but bringing together children and parents socially.

We have strong links with our pyramid secondary school, Woodroffe; there, children are able to use specialist facilities and work with their future teachers.

The pupils also work together regularly with children from the other Lyme Regis cluster primary schools to share in various activities such as sport, music, maths, literacy, environmental and residential visits.

We aim to help all children:

  • Be happy and successful learners
  • To reach their full potential
  • To support their community and be respectful of each other.
