New Website Launched!

Our new Acorn Federation website has now gone live. Please visit it at www.acornfederation.co.uk and add it to your favourites.

There are three inter-linked websites, one for Acorn Federation with information about the Federation and one each for St Andrew’s and Mrs Ethelston’s with information specific to each school. The website will be updated regularly to include news, photos and messages for both schools, and we hope that you will find it to be a useful additional stream of information in conjunction with the Parentmail system.

Thank you to the initial working party of staff and governors who initially conceived the outline design and to the website designer who has done a fantastic job of interpreting our initial concept.

We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Mansi for all their work on the photos – I think you will all agree that they really do enhance the sites and reflect the character of both schools - and that the children are all potential models!

Thank you also to all the parents who gave their consent for their children to be featured on the website. Read & See More »

Science Morning with Dr Usher

We spent the morning of 14 September doing Science with Dr Usher from Colyton Grammar School.

The children investigated the forces needed to get a rocket really high in the air.  We used Coke and Mentos, Film canisters and Alka-Seltzer and finally air pressure to test our own rocket designs.

Year 6 Residential Trip

Year 6 visited Barton Hall for three days and took part in a variety of activities including abseiling, archery and quad biking. The children all had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the new experiences.

Mrs Ethelston's Got Talent & Summer Party

We are looking forward to the show from our very talented Year 6 - there will be a panel of famous judges!
We will also be serving food, wine, beer, teas and coffees.  Plus face painting, glitter tattoos and fancy nails.

Jo Street is doing the Fancy Nails - please can she have any donations of nail polish remover and fun nail polishes.

Jane who runs the second hand uniform, would be grateful of any donations of uniform from the school leavers.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.

Welcome to Mrs Ethelston's CE Primary Academy

Welcome to Mrs Ethelston's CE Primary Academy

We are proud to welcome you to Mrs Ethelston's CE Primary Academy, part of the Acorn Multi Academy Trust.  Situated in the attractive village of Uplyme on the Dorset/ Devon border, we have 184 children in seven classes.  While our site is small, we are fortunate to have the use of our beautiful church and well-equipped village hall.

"Mrs Ethelston’s VA Primary school is a Christian community where the love of God and the uniqueness of each individual as created in the image of God are celebrated.

The school is at the heart of the church and local community. This has a profound impact on the children’s academic, personal and spiritual development as well as their achievement."   SIAMS report June 2013

Our school community works together, striving to give the children the best possible education.  We want the children from Mrs Ethelston's to be proud of their school and themselves.  We want them to become well-rounded, reflective individuals who have an enjoyment of learning, and rise to a challenge.  Read & See More »
